A key which produces character output.

Description

refers to a key on the keyboard, usually in response to a prompt like 'press any key to continue'. Any key, with the exception of the <BREAK> and, in some circumstances, the <ESCAPE> key, the flow control keys <ctrl>+S and <ctrl>+Q, can be used as a response.
