Sierra Bravo Launches www.D3Ref.com Online D3 Reference Manual

BLOOMINGTON, MN, September 13, 2005 — Sierra Bravo Corporation launched a new website (www.d3ref.com) to provide an online reference guide to Raining Data’s D3 DMBS. The guide is implemented using Raining Data’s character-based online reference material provided with their D3 product.

“We have been adding employees pretty rapidly and the need for an easy-to-use reference guide for D3 was growing,” explained Luke Bucklin, President of Sierra Bravo Corporation. Sierra Bravo does extensive work within the D3 programming environment and the reference material provided is difficult to use by today’s standards. “Today’s programmers aren’t used to paging through a manual of nearly 1000 printed pages, and the character-based interface to the guide wasn’t cutting it. These guys want to get their answers in a browser window,” said Bucklin.

Sierra Bravo developed the online reference for internal use, but felt it would be helpful to others as well. Since the reference data that appears on the web pages is being extracted from a D3 system in real-time, updates to the reference web site will be published automatically as the D3 system is updated with newer versions of the documentation.

The web site was developed using PHP and connects to a D3/Linux server in real-time using Sierra Bravo’s connectivity tools.
